Distributed Ensembles

Extremely large ensembles are a powerful tool for studying non-linear systems. Several large ensemble projects are planned for the ACES system. These range from studies of biolgeochemical system dynamics to climate forecast studies. In all cases a common computational theme of automating the] storage, retrieval, classification and query of results emerges. We will explore the use of technologies being developed to support the Earth System Grid project - see for example http://dataportal.ucar.edu - for storing and analysing results from very large ensembles.
