Heterogeneous Computing

ACES participants plan to explore the use of Grid technologies to flexibly integrate low-cost, mainstream 32-bit hardware together with more specialized higher-cost large memory 64-bit systems. The mix of 32-bit and 64-bit systems provides a cost-effective approach to researching and developing next generation modeling systems that combine Monte-Carlo techniques with advanced optimization methodolgy rooted in Kalman filter theory.
