Parallel Matlab

Many researchers have limited time to learn the in depth programming language details or programming model details that are typically required to utilize today's high-performance computer systems. In ACES we will be researching the application of high-level programming environments based on parallel Matlab extensions developed at MIT. One example project already underway involves the execution of an ensemble of numerical simulations that run in parallel. The ensemble is driven from an interactive Matlab session and ensemble results are returned to that session. Analysis and subsequent steering of the ensemble is undertaken in Matlab with very little knowledge of parallel computing technologies required.
